A group is one of two kinds, and you choose which when you create it.
Kind | How membership is decided |
|---|---|
Static | You pick the students by hand. The list is the group. |
Dynamic | You set criteria. StudyDrome works out who matches, every time the group is read. |
The kind is fixed at creation. A static group cannot carry criteria, and a dynamic group cannot be saved without them. Both are refused at the point of creation, so a half-built group never exists.
A student can belong to several groups at once. A year group, a course group, and a tag-driven group can all hold the same person, and none of them conflicts with the others.
Groups outlast the exam they were built for. The same group can be an exam audience, a course audience and a calendar audience.
